Different Internet Cafes around Singapore

Upon our visit to Chaoyang that day, we decided that we wanted to visit Internet Cafes around Singapore to understand more about the different features in the cafes which make it so attractive. Through this, we hope we can make the Chaoyang internet cafe more attrctive to the students there.

Starbucks @ Thomson Plaza

Exterior Features

• Attractive lighting
• Large Sign

Internal Features

• Wireless internet access
• Soothing Background Music

Alfresco Features

• Spacious
• Different environmental setting
• Presence of not only tables and chairs, sofas were present as well

Delifrance @ Junction 8

Attractive Features

• Nice French Red Blue White lights
• Framed photos put up which served its purpose in decorating and giving it an atmosphere
• Chairs and tables were unique

Coffee Club @ White Sands

Interior Features

• The use of sofas as seats can make the internet café more comfortable
• The use of attractive lights can allow for a nicer environment for the students
• Another interesting feature could be the counter (note the design)

Exterior Features

• Use of a nice & bright logo on the outside to attract students to the internet café

Alfresco Features

• The use of trees and flowers can allow for a nicer environment for the students to study in
• Seats with a large umbrella as shown in the picture

• The café can include reading sources as shown in the picture above where the café is in the library

Menu

• Use of visuals to promote the kinds of food available in the café. This allows the students to better communicate with the seller what he wants as they often have difficulties in doing so.

• Nice woody color of surroundings and furniture
• Nice cozy environment for discussion, hanging out or to relax
• Appealing furniture
• Nice aluminum chairs and nice woody tables
• Bar counter and ceiling lights made it really ‘feel’ like a café

Attractive Features

• Nice red sofas and chairs and woody tables
• Nice decorated ceiling
• Hanging ceiling lights
• Partition created nice private corners
• Television!
• Lights which gave environment a warm feel

Mcdonalds @ Junction 8

Attractive Features

• Chairs and tables had simple design but served its purpose
• Nice huge McDonalds sign
• The McDonalds statue is quite appealing, actually
• Wallpaper

Bungalow @ United Square

Attractive Features

• Neat arrangement of simple tables & chairs
• Plants to beautify the area

Alfresco Features

• Use of a huge canopy with fans attached
• Different from single umbrellas
• Might be more practical as well

• Long bar-stand equipped with many apparatuses
• Nice wooden billboards on top of the bar counter

• Comfortable sofa-chairs attached to simple wooden and square tables
• Warm lighting hung from ceiling
• Picture frames on the walls
  

Basically, we discovered many features of internet cafes around Singapore. We hope to be able to apply some of these features in the future Chaoyang internet cafe to make it more appealing to the children. Wish us all the best =)
