RE period on 19th March

Today's first RE period was a productive time with Mrs Cheryl Yap. We were told to mainly do a few things:

1. Create a blog (which you are currently reading right now =) look how efficient our team is)

2. Ask Mrs. Suwandi for details regarding the Internet Cafe so as to better understand our direction

3. Come up with lesson plans for the Cafe which are rather urgent because the Cafe is due in April. Lesson plans will teach students life skills and hospitality skills so that some of them can take over the cafe after April.

4. Settle some separate RI RE-SL administrative matters

RE period 2 was a lecture by Mrs Lim Yoke Tong. Since this is our group's first year in Service Learning, we listened intently to the lecture as we were told about the real meaning of Service Learning, a need for commmitment to this project, etc. I guess the lecture was a useful one, my group members and I are now clearly on the dedication that we have to ready to put in for this project, and what it really means to take on a "Service Learning" project, where this project is a connection between giving back to the society and learning lifeskills etc at the same time. RI MPP team 1 of 2007 is now inspired, geared up, and ready for a change of the usual RE project - Service Learning this year - a chance for us to give back to the society. =)

RE period 3 was not very efficient, but we discussed our exact plans for the holidays and how we are going to finish all our work on time etc. Setting a direction and agenda is always good =) at least you know where you're heading. Though our group can be very inefficient, slack, and sometimes being not serious at work and in RE periods, it is this "knowing to the right thing at the right time" attitude that keeps our entire group on track.

We are now 4 years into Research Education, and we all have a lot of experience in RE already. Our RE project this year is a special one, I guess our group will fully commit and do our best for our VWO (like we always do), and this S-L journey will truly be a fruitful and memorable one.

RE this year looks set to be great =).
