For the past 2 weeks we have been occupied with 4 things for this service-learning project, namely preparing our RE Congress report and power point, helping Mrs. Suwandi check the status of the Sec 3 group which went all silent for very long, brainstorming and preparing our lesson plans regarding computer applications lessons in the internet café, and dealing with our appeal for sponsorship from Prima Deli. For this post I will briefly go through what went on for our RE periods over T3W1 and T3W2, and what to look forward to.
Firstly, preparing our RE Congress report and power point. For the report, we have done up around half of the report already. We intend to leave the remaining half till later this term to complete, as we will have the contents necessary by then. As for the power point, Keng Chee is finishing up with the animations soon. Contents, like the report, can only be filled up towards the end of this term. But we will definitely be able to do up both the report and power point well and on time.
Secondly, helping Mrs. Suwandi check the status of the Sec 3 group which went all silent for so long. Today, we saw the interface of the website which they took half a year to design. However, it disappointed Mrs. Yap as there were no contents at all. So I think that they have not been doing their task well and they are a disappointment to our friends at Chaoyang. But since they claim that they do have a better version at home, I guess it will work out fine. We will need to use some of their website for our lessons this term as well, so we should help ensure that they put a stop to their slow working ways. The interface looks cool though.
Thirdly, the lesson plans. Today we completed all the planning for our lessons, so we will be ready to implement them anytime now. We have planned 5 different lessons which will help the students have more computer skills which can be put in use when they use the internet café. The lessons are Email, Internet, Songs, Games, & Painting Activities. We shall get approval and feedback from Mrs. Suwandi later this week.
Lastly, the appeal for sponsorship from Prima Deli. Last week, Prima Deli gave us a favorable reply to our appeal letter, and that greatly excited us as we were on the verge of getting our Service-Learning partners a sponsorship deal from a leading local food chain. Currently, more talks are under way before we can confirm this deal which will really be great for our friends at Chaoyang.
Next week, we will be meeting up with Mrs. Suwandi along with the Sec 3 group to discuss the new lesson plans and their new website. Hope that will go on well. Also, we will be completing more of the RE report and power point before we leave it aside till later this term.
